The Big Book Club invites Philadelphia students in grades five, six, seven and eight to come together around a literary experience. The Big Book Club is facilitated by Bushfire Theatre resident artists, Rowan University and Temple University literacy faculty and pre-service teachers. Students engage in crafting Life Histories in response to young adult literature and develop skills that include:

• Literacy (Reading, Writing, Listening, Performing, Motivation)

• Collaborative/Cooperative Learning

• Close Reading

• Annotating Text

• Citing Textual Evidence
